Appliance Price Index: July 2026

This is the second edition of the Appliance Price Index, and it opens with a confession the first edition promised we would never dodge: this month is a snapshot, not a trend line. The catalog still tracks the same 104 major appliances as June. Of those, 42 carry a live, verified in-stock retailer price today, and here is the honest part: 41 of those 42 prices were last confirmed on June 16, 2026, six days after the June edition's numbers, and one, a Samsung dishwasher, was re-verified on July 13. Our tracker did not capture the July 4th sale window itself, so this report will not pretend to tell you what happened during it.

What it can tell you, with real numbers on both ends, is what the board looks like after the holiday versus the pre-sale baseline the June edition published on June 10. Every figure below is either in today's tracker snapshot (taken July 31, 2026, with each price's own last-verified date) or printed in the June edition.

June's deals, re-checked

Eight models appear both in the June edition's published tables and on today's verified board. Here is the best verified price then versus now:

Read the increases carefully, because two different things are happening in that column. Where the same retailer is on both ends, the movement is real: the Bosch SHX78CM5N's AJ Madison price is $1,549 in both editions, unchanged to the dollar; what changed is that the cheaper $1,478 Best Buy listing no longer verifies. That is the pattern across the board: June's best prices mostly lived at Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe's, and those listings have dropped off our verified board, leaving the steadier AJ Madison prices as the floor. Whether each one ended (a clearance selling out) or simply stopped being verifiable from here, our data cannot distinguish, and we will not guess for you. Either way, the practical result for a buyer is the same: the cheap listings from June are not reliably there anymore.

A note on the Thermador: the tracker verified Thermador PRG304WH at $1,700 at AJ Madison on June 16, against a $5,499 list price, at the same retailer that listed it at $5,699 six days earlier in the June edition. A 70% same-retailer drop inside a week on a pro-style gas range is far more likely to be a listing or capture error than a real clearance, so we are flagging it, not celebrating it, and excluding it from this report's takeaways until it re-verifies. If you want it, check the live listing yourself before drawing conclusions.

The deals that disappeared

The bigger story is the models that fell off the verified board entirely. Eight models from the June edition's tables, including its whole top of the discount leaderboard, no longer have a verified in-stock price at any retailer we track:

In June we wrote that deep refrigerator discounts a month before a model-year changeover are usually clearance signals, and that the half-off Samsung Bespoke was "the window." The window appears to have closed exactly the way clearance windows do: the deal is gone and there is no verified price left behind it.

The board today: the typical appliance is over list

Across the 42 models with a live verified price, the average sits +4.2% above MSRP (median +5.5%; both figures include the flagged Thermador row, and excluding it the average is +6.0%). Only 15 of 42 models price below list, 1 sits exactly at it, and 26 are above. June's baseline across its 49 priced models was +1.0% over MSRP, but coverage changed enough between editions (see methodology) that we would not read that 3-point gap as pure market movement.

By category:

*Ranges average +22.2% over list with the flagged Thermador row excluded, which would make them the most over-list category on the board, the same position they held in June at +18.7%.

Refrigerators and washers are the only categories still averaging below list. June's standout categories have inverted: wall ovens averaged -17.0% in June and +7.9% now, dryers went from -13.8% to +3.4%, both moves driven by the discounted Best Buy and Lowe's listings dropping off the verified board.

Brands: Bosch still never blinks

The brand panels differ between editions (KitchenAid and Whirlpool fell below the 3-model bar this month), so treat the June column as context, not a strict time series. The consistent finding is Bosch: for the second straight month, not one of the seven live-priced Bosch appliances sells below its own list price. June's conclusion stands: for a Bosch, a sitewide coupon event matters more than store choice or month.

The deepest verified discounts on the board

The freshest number in the tracker deserves its own line: the Samsung DW80CG5451SR, a 42 dBA, 15-place-setting dishwasher, re-verified at $595 against an $849 list on July 13, the only price in this entire report confirmed in July. At 30% off it is also the deepest unflagged discount under $1,000 on the board.

Worth a look too: the LG LRFLC2706S, our reliability-and-value French-door pick, is the one model on the board still verified at two retailers with Home Depot ($1,849) undercutting AJ Madison ($1,895).

What this means if you are buying now

1. The post-July-4th lull is real in our data. June's deepest deals are gone from the verified board and the typical live-priced appliance sits above list. Unless you need it this week, the next structural window is Labor Day and the fall model-changeover, see when appliances go on sale.
2. Refrigerators and washers are the exception, still averaging below MSRP, with five verified double-digit discounts between them in the table above.
3. Verify before you drive. Most prices in this report were last confirmed June 16. Treat every number here as a starting point, click through to the live listing, and check the date, exactly as we do.
4. A disappeared deal is information. If a model you wanted was on June's leaderboard and is absent from every verified board now, clearance likely ended. Decide whether to wait for Labor Day rather than hunting a price that no longer exists.

Methodology (read this month's honestly)

HomeGear Drip tracks 104 current major home appliances, the same catalog as June, with no models added or removed this month. Figures use the lowest verified non-Amazon in-stock price per model as shown in our tracker at snapshot time (July 31, 2026), compared against manufacturer MSRP; each price carries its own last-verified date, and 43 of the 44 live retailer prices behind this report were last confirmed June 16, 2026, one on July 13. The tracker did not capture prices during the July 4th window itself, so this edition makes no claims about it.

Two coverage changes versus June matter for interpretation. First, this edition has 42 priced models against June's 49, and only 2 models with verified prices at 2+ retailers against June's 15, so the cross-retailer spread and win-rate stats from June are not repeatable this month and we have not attempted them. Second, 40 of the 44 live prices now come from AJ Madison (3 from Best Buy, 1 from Home Depot), where June's verified prices spread across Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, and AJ Madison. Some of the month-over-month "increases" above are therefore the cheaper retailer's listing dropping off the verified board rather than a same-store price hike; we have said so wherever it applies rather than booking it as market movement. Month-over-month comparisons use the prices printed in the June 2026 edition (captured June 10, 2026) as the baseline.
